Having gone in on the Stargrave nickstarter, I decided to get a head start on painting up some minis and putting together a table.

I already have a fair amount of cardstock terrain (metromorph and tinkerturf) from playing Necromunda and Kill Team.

but I wanted to get some slightly less industrial stuff together, so I've started some Tatooine/Logan's World style stuff.

And I've started painting up some random stuff to use as pirates.

Though I've pulled something special out of the leadpile for my first warband...

Love the adobe buildings, that weathered fringe scifi western look is something I really enjoy! Can I ask where the bearded guy with the headscarf is from?

Thanks!
He's a simple kitbash I did using a Domari Freeborn from warlord's Beyond the Gates of Atlantis and the head from the Frostgrave: Ghost Archipelago crewmen kit.

Gates has a ton of very Stargrave-friendly figs in its ranges.  Wish they had a few more plastic options just for the ease of conversions, but many of the metals have such a neat aesthetic I wouldn't really want to hack them up anyway.

It's not something I've ever played, but the recent sprue sale by Warlord gave me an excuse to pick some stuff up for kitbashing.

I tried Gates a couple of times.  It's not bad, especially if you like Bolt Action's mechanics.  More of a fan of the minis than the game, though.

Testing colour schemes.

I also painted up a tiny gretchin.

This stuff is looking so evocative! Love the colors and figures!

Great looking terrain and miniatures. I especially like the bold greens. Good stuff!   :)

Well, I've gone very old school today.

My order of the old Copplestone sculpted Future Warriors arrived from Forlorn Hope today, and I wasted no time priming some up and getting some paint on them.

This guy gave me a strong sense memory of the old Citadel Confrontation tech gang leader. Something about the legs?

I also painted up another grot.

I love these old Kev Adams sculpts. They were what got me into the hobby back when I was knee high to a grass hopper, and I'm really enjoying returning to them now.

Speaking of returning to old miniatures, I found this poor ork in my lead pile. My best guess is I painted him back in junior school, probably 30+ years ago, and well before I had heard about thinning your paints.

So, after a bath in biostrip and some scrubbing, I managed to turn him into this:

Once I work out how I'm basing them, he'll be ready to hit the table again, and I couldn't be happier about that.

I don't know, man. No shame in the old paint job. I recently found some of my old WH40k stuff and I absolutely don't have the heart to undo a piece of my poorly painted childhood. They probably won't see time on the gaming table, but the memories are worth holding onto.

I don't think I will be repainting everything, but it'll be good to get some of these boys back on the table.

Based up the first batch of pirates. Eagerly awaiting the nickstarter delivery now.

Of course I love the look of RT Orks, but those pirates are really cool too. Copplestone Future Warriors, eh? I'll have to keep those in mind!

Yeah, they're old sculpts (1991 I believe) but they hold up well. You can get them from EM4 and Forlorn Hope, and they're very reasonably priced.
