Great thread, having just viewed it from start to finish, I notice that you mention the old Police War Duties Manual. I did a lot of Police War Duties training during the 80's and I can recall that the "Mobile Column" idea was still in vogue, but by that time they were being referred to as PSU's (Police Support Units"), which in theory would consist of an Inspector, two sergeants and about twenty to thirty constables. Transport would probably have been Ford Transit carriers, similar to those used for Shield trained officers. No mention was ever made of firearms, but common sense says that we would have been armed. Hope this is of use.
They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
We will be victorious!!

The Iron Lady (presuming that's who she's meant to be...) looks good.  The thought of her with a Bren Gun reminds me of that figure of Churchill with a Tommy Gun...

As my thread is in danger of disappearing down another entertaining rabbit hole, time for another miniature  lol

Toying with an “Eagle has Landed” type scenario, and the following conversion seems to fit the bill.

The torso is from a Space Vixens From Mars mini, with a green stuffed handbag, and the head is borrowed from a Brigade Games Apoc mini (I have another to paint toting a Bren gun).

Great idea. Who plays the Donald Sutherland part?

Michael Heseltine, obviously. Foreign (well Welsh, near enough), quite tall and wanted to knock off the PM.  ;)

Of course if you wanted to be more literal about it, it’s going to be Martin McGuiness, who almost did assassinate the PM. Ardal O’Hanlon to play him in the film. :D

Hmmm… maybe I need to think about a Hezza figure  :D

Just took my dear old Mum out for the afternoon to the local garden centre and was surprised to find the following gem on a charity book store

Plenty of inspiration

Oof, that's some bad trigger discipline.

It's almost like an eighties action movie  lol

I'm sure I've got a copy of that book somewhere, an additional source of inspiration are the old arms and armour press, Tanks/Uniforms/Warships/(whatever the plane one was called) illustrated series, they were published 1983-5 ish, there's a lot of ww2 but they also have a lot of Nato, warsaw pact titles.

Feel free to disregard this information if you already know it.

Some more senior brass … apologies to any former generals on LAF if I’ve messed up the uniform, but I was aiming for a Lt.General, which I think means black belt rather than brown, different hat etc

The base figure is from Crooked Dice, with a new arm, plus some green stuff for the medals etc

Not a former general but a few comments:

Grandfather's Pistol holster (he wore it on the Somme don't you know?) should be on right, sword on left. Though quite often seen as you have it on the left as it was easier to draw and few carried swords (other than cavalry) in action after early WW1.  But the ammo and compass pouches then had to be on right making reloading more difficult.

Black Sam Browne belt may be a relic from when he was in the Rifles as a young chap.  Otherwise brown for almost everyone else.

Aiguillette (yellow cord) shows that he is an ADC to the Queen/King or a equerry to a member of the Royal Family.

Cap - either khaki, red band, gold wire badge, khaki peak or very dark blue, red band, gold wire badge polished black peak with gold braiding.

'He could have lived a risk-free, moneyed life, but he preferred to whittle away his fortune on warfare.'

That's rather attractive little group. Back story of ex-Rifle Brigade/ RGJ  general is perfect. The 'Black Mafia' was very much a thing in the 'eighties I understand.

Had a friend who did an exchange posting with the Territorial element while he was up at Cambridge.
