Very nice, the trouble is that this is a never ending project. Everyone can think of something else to add to it, irate NAAFI staff anyone lol

Well the new civ set of some former construction workers is a shoe in.

Possible additions:

Home Service Force (HSF) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_Service_Force

Royal Military Police (male & female) - roles might include; route/access control, PoW/detention cages
US infantry (Army or USAF) to go with your humvees and Abrams.
Harrier or Sea Harrier
Displaced civilians and civilian organisations dealing with them (NHS, CD, Scouts, Guides etc.)
Civil Defence Corps https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_Defence_Corps

Those Brits look good.

Like the brass-hats too.  They look sufficiently general-like...

And I have those civilians from Empress on order...

What an excellent thread, how could I have not found it sooner! This full of inspiration for my Zona Albion project, set in late 1970s Northern England, in a landscape abandoned 20 years earlier (see my Return to Zona Alfa thread on the Post-Apocalypse board).

Whilst I'm not (currently) going for sizeable military or police formations, I'm picking up lots of ideas for bits to use. If you go for armed civilians, have a look at the conversions I've done. Also check out the Mofo Falklands range from Gripping Beast for another source of British troops.

Keep up the good work!

Cheers all, thanks for the comments/ideas, gives me plenty of motivation  :)

Civil Defence Corps

Some good ideas there.

I’ve already got a handful of figures I’m using for HSF that will be guarding an installation/bridge etc

IIRC the Civil Defence Corps was disbanded well before the 1980s (when my project is set) but I’ve got plans for a couple of former members that retained their beret/kit and decide to pitch in after the bomb drops.

Very interesting! Always good to hear any thoughts on assignments/organisation  :)

Fascinating to learn about the HSF. Yet again an interest in wargaming has lead to some real world historical research for me. 👍

Yes it was disbanded in 1968 and much of its hardware and many vehicles went into storage (Landrovers, Thames radio and command vehicles etc (including AFS Green Goddesses which were retained until 2004 or 2005 IIRC) in "secret bunkers".  I remember inspecting one in the late 1970s where vehicles from WW2 and the 1950s/60s were stored along with boxes of radios, tents, accommodation stores, telephone exchanges, telephone line laying equipment, ambulances, Land Rover Recce and GS, Thames office/radio/GS and a host of special purpose trailers, generators and much more. My main interest then (1977) lay with CDC Austin (red) and AFS Bedford (Green Goddess) Fire appliances.

So plenty stuff for your modelling skills.

Would love to have seen one of those bunkers with all the gear stored away  :)

A few more vehicles today for the motor pool.

First up a 1/50 Promod Bedford MK … useful as a viable alternative if you don’t fancy converting the corgi diecast. This is a relatively new addition to their range, so worth having a chat with them if you want to make a case for a variant they don’t already have.

Next up a diecast 1/43 police car….I didn’t “need” anymore police cars, but fancied adding a cortina  lol

And finally, a refugee vehicle with a bunch of stowage added.

Lovely work. At some stage I'm going to have to add some vehicles from this era to my Zona Albion setup, but for the moment it's firmly grounded in the late 50s.
Thanks for mentioning Promod . They are a new one on me, so I must have a look at what they do.l

You might not have needed another police car but your subconscious was looking for a suitable tribute to the late and sadly departed Terry Hall. RIP Terry.

Lovely work mate and thanks for the head's up on Promod. I really wish they did a few more military subjects, they are such nice kits and in just the right scale.
