Melville escape with the Colours at fugitives Drift
« on: April 27, 2021, 03:09:34 PM »
Couple of pictures of Melvill attempting to cross the Buffalo river at fugitives Drift. I had the river custom built. The model is 6 feet in length in 3x2 foot sections with rapids and cliffs (fugitives Drift) at one end dropping down into calmer waters.

That is great who ever built the river for you is very good. I like the water effect and the rocks very much.

Fabulous looking river Mike :-*

I remember reading an article on Melvill and the bid to save the colours, in Military Modelling magazine, circa 1979 :)
(Or maybe it was Battle For Wargamers).

Now Mike that is a lovely piece of scenery. Would be great to game this scenario as part of the Battle of iSandlwana.

Cheers.
Best wishes,
Helen

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. It’s a lovely piece of scenery and I’m glad I invested in it.
Helen I do intend to use it as a wargame scenario, saving the colours.
Battle of iSandlwana will obviously be gamed first and let’s see who gets out alive to make the attempt in crossing the Buffalo hopefully with the colours of the 24th in their possession.

Mark, the model was custom made for me by John Gittins of JG miniatures. He’s on Instagram if you want to check out his work.
