Wars of the Roses Brain Fodder
« on: May 18, 2021, 10:53:22 AM »
I like to listen to podcasts while I paint, I find listening occupies part of my mind leaving the rest of it to concentrate on the task in hand while at the same time some subliminal learning is occuring. The Wars of the Roses by Derek Firks on Soundcloud is the best I have found so far , but there is also Matt Lewis on You tube and Britains Bloody Crown which is ok

Does anyone have any other suggestions or favourite listening for this period?

EDIT: I decided to add links to whatever I find to listen to, might be useful for some folk

simplistic, quite a few innaccuracies that even I noticed but quite good visually

Britains Bloody Crown.Dan Jones, it's ok, I think the interpretation of events is very much form a "with hindsight " point of view and sometimes attributes rationale to actions
as though it's a soap opera. Applingly innacurate clothing and weaponry.

Matt Lewis, I like his take on the subject, seems to mknow his stuff, his battlefield walks are interesting, he seems to have started at least 4 diffeent series tho and hasn't finished one of them.

another Dan Jones 7 hours , I havent listened to this yet,I will report back

Kings and Generals once you get used to the irritating voice this gives a broad overview followed by episodes covering individual battles which are actually quite good visually giving an animated account using a battle map

I have a bad case of prescient nostalgia. The future's not what it used to be.

Here you go
He stays away from discussing the battles but I think presents a good history of the politics and events

Thanks for the link. Good starter stuff and some nice thoughts about cause and effect.
