1848 skirmish with Steve Barber 28s
« on: May 06, 2021, 11:22:08 AM »
"Balkan Dave" Watson has got his lovely Steve Barber 28mm Austrians and Hungarians into action on his Balkan Wargamer blog:

And, incidentally, reviewed a recently published book full of material for skirmish games. ;)

Thanks, Helen.

Looks as though you and Steve need to expand that range - see Colin Ashton's comment at the end of his own review!

Be careful of what you ask Helen!

I'm sure Colin will respond.  :)

The range continues to grow, just had a look at Steve's site. The Hungarians in particular have a wide range of poses. The Austrians, perhaps because there are fewer troop types and fewer poses, seem less suited to skirmish games. Advancing Austrian Infantry and Grenadiers would be good and some Austrian cavalry to match the Hungarian Hussars.

Excellent work on this range so far folks. I've really enjoyed reading all of the posts here about the period, on this thread and others. It's skirmish gaming that suits me best too and I think 1848 in Italy and Hungary has wealth of gaming opportunities that are too good to miss.

Thanks Emir. There is an advancing Austrian Infantryman, just not released on the website. I hope to have him then made into grenadier. There is also a Serenzar sculpted but not released. The Hussar that will be sculpted will be wearing his pelisse. I'm aiming to have him sculpted as a Ban hussar. A little different but useful for the Austrians.

I spoke with Steve Barber last night. If all goes well we should see the Advancing Austrian and the Serenzer released in the next month.

Thank you.
