Mythological Ancient Greece
« on: August 08, 2021, 01:56:20 PM »
James (and son), Scrivs and Martin came round for a game of James WiP rules Midgard set in mythical ancient Greeece.

Basilus has been set a series of near impossible tasks to complete to win the hand of a fair princess (as is the way of such things). First he must steal a magic horn - however Minossos and his Cyclopean allies intend to stop him making off with the instrument in question

We were resting the rules for flying, so Harpies featured heavily

The Talos (beacuse someone always asks) is a tourist souvenir James picked up in a market on Crete and repainted.

Herakles was along for the ride with Basilus and despatched the Talos with a blow from his club - then decided to pick on Minossos

Fighting got very bloody around the mountain pass

A great game and the rules once again worked very well.

Lots more eye candy over on my blog:

Lovely looking game - like those Hoplite units and the ongoing odyssey. Look forward to the next chapter.

Thank you all for the kind words.
All the scenery is the work of James Morris, and he and Martin supplied most of the models (though there are a few of mine lurking about too.

Martin's version of events is here:

Woah, great looking game.  I must admit, I am looking forward to seeing the Midgard rules (hint, HINT) but expanding them into Greek myth makes me even more intrigued.

Cheers!  We’ve done a few Midgard games in mythological Greece - it was always intended to work for this kind of thing - but we just focused a lot on Middle-Earth before that. Not quite sure when it will see the light of day but I’m battling the latest edit at the moment.

Here's a few more of my pics from the game, including the new Cyclopes (1/72 soft plastic Dark Alliance) and Harpies (Artisan Workshop designs printed for me by Fully Cycled on Etsy).  More linkks, words and pics on the blog:

This looks great, I love the idea of fighting battles in the Greek myth setting.  The armies look lovely (not quite sure if 'lovely' is the right term), and certainly inspiring to get my figures back onto the table again.

I'm looking forward to having a go when the rules are available.
