Woodbine Colonial Marines - an alternative for Ripley?
« on: May 20, 2021, 10:48:07 AM »
Looking for a new project I quite fancy an Aliens theme - having looked through the various metal options I think I've settled on the Woodbine models.

The only thing I can't get my head around is the Ripley model - I just don't think it works.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd also be up for a suitable Newt too if one springs to mind?

Denizen SF28? Not perfect, but not a bad choice:

And if you haven’t considered their Mid-Tech troopers for Colonial Marines, you should have a look too.

I did look at Denizen but they are a bit too small, although I am currently looking at geting a couple of the leading edge characters with rail guns - this might fit better with them?

Hasslefree do a not-Ripley called Signee, along with two not-Newts, a smart gunner and loose pulse rifles.

Check out the Dawn of the Lead blog and the Utopia campaign posts - author mixes the Woodbine CMC with Hasslefree, Copplestone, EM-4 Future Warriors, Pig Iron, Heresy, amongst others. It might be useful for your own project.

I do not have any of the Woodbine figures (and that Crooked Dice figure is... somewhere).

Crooked Dice William Killian (unfortunately discontinued but I live in hope) and a Stargrave crew man.
