There are probably more recent works on the subject but for what it's worth here is what Stuart Reid wrote about Kenmore's regiment in his Partizan Press booklet on Killiecrankie : the regiment was raised on April 19th 1689 with the officers coming from South-West Scotland and some of the rank and file being possibly Protestant refugees from Ulster. There were 600 men under arms, organised in ten battalion companies with no grenadiers. There is no evidence that uniforms were issued prior to the battle and Reid thinks the men fought in their civilian hodden grey coat and blue bonnets. If red coats were issued at all, they would most likely have had white lining and cuffs. Regardless of what their men wore, the officers would all have appeared in privately purchased red or crimson coats of much finer quality, with cuffs in the coat colour.
Keep in mind however that this was published in 1989 and that new research may well have shed more light on the matter since (Reid himself may well have updated his uniform info in later publications, but this is all I have at hand).
