All at Sea - L'Orient (Part One)
« on: May 29, 2021, 09:05:41 AM »
The latest model to join my collection of French ships is the mighty Ocean Class French first-rate L'Orient that gained immortal fame at the Battle of the Nile in 1798.

In my first post reviewing the model I take a look at the early history of the ship leading up to her climactic end as she began her days in Toulon under the name Dauphin Royal.

Beautiful model and love the post.
And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

Splendid vessel - splice the mainbrace (or whatever the French do instead).  Anyone else of my vintage remember having to learn this at school?

The boy stood on the burning deck
Whence all but he had fled;
The flame that lit the battle's wreck
Shone round him o'er the dead.

Having seen how you have based your ships, I have decided to use Fluid 3D Workshop's products for my 1:300 Coastal Patrol flotillas (flotillae?).
No plan survives first contact with the dice.
