I really like those models. I had thought about getting some to play UPP Neo-Soviets againt my Prodos Colonial Marines, but I've not been able to find any decent images of them to see where they fit scale-wise among other sci-fi miniatures.

Were they marketed by Hasslefree at one point?

Yes, they were originally sculpted by Paul Hicks as a private comission for Frank Hammond, ex of Mongrel miniatures. I believe that F.H. had them done as an opfor for the Copplestone near future troopers. They were sold onnto Hasselfree at a later date and then to CP models.

They are lovely figs but IMO too small to work along side the prodos marines. I'll post a photo if you like.

Actually I find the CP marines scale quite well with the prodos and GF9 colonial marines as well as the Terminators from the Terminator Genysis game. Same goes for the Anvil miniatures range etc. Only dodgy prodos marine was the one with the smartgun, but i made her very thin arms bionic by painting them silver lol

I would definately put all of the models mentioned above as slim 28mm though :o

Just my 2p, your opionions may vary  ;) lol

They're not Hicksy sculpts; they were done by the late great Richard Ansell. Otherwise spot on with the origin story.

Size wise they are more HF than GW

Yes, I guess it depends how hung up you are on the size of your toy soldiers or what degree of scalaphrenia you suffer from, but I suffer from it quite acutely so the Prodos marine is way too big imho

Ah, I'd convinced myself they were Hick's work, thanks for setting me straight. I remember Mongrel saying that there were more in the works, that  there were alternative heads and what not, but they never materialised.

Ansell did fine work, lots of character, he's sorely missed in this digital age.

They prodos first edition :o? I have the 2nd smaller marines, which may explain it.

Left: Prodos 2nd edition AVP Colonial Marine

Right: Prodos 1st edition AVP Colonial Marine

Massive difference, no wonder people got upset by the change. I will post some comparrison photos a bit later (hopefully)

As promised size comparison piccies by me this time :o

First pics of my own posted so sorry if they are a bit ropey

Left to right they are: Prodos 2nd, CP models, GF9, CP models, Prodos 2nd and GF9 (Hudson)

To me all look like slim 28mm, Hasslefree sort of type. CP are standard 25mm plastic slotta-bases, GF9 and Prodos are on what they come with.

Those original prodos ones are huge from what I can tell.

Hope this helps

Glen
