Scratchbuilt 28mm fantasy inn
« on: June 23, 2023, 09:22:39 PM »
Just sharing what has been quite a big project for me! My first real scratchbuilt, and I went quite ambitious with a sizeable inn. Initially I was even more ambitious and was going to try and model the interior too with removable floors, but soon realised that this was beyond my abilities and experience. Even so, the roofs are removable.

I am not a very precise person, but this didn’t prove too much of an issue as neither were medieval/Renaissance/Tudor builders, so the wonkiness and measurement by eye all added to the look.

I’m going to model a street tile to sit under the overhanging first floor, with a table and bench, as well as doing the pub sign at some point. But the main building is basically done.
My armies:
- Henry VIII's army (WIP) 15mm
- Ancient Germans (28mm)
- Ancient Belgae (Gauls with German allies) (28mm)
- Massilian Greeks (Greeks and Gallic mercenaries/subjects) (28mm)
- A few EI Romans (28mm)
- Handful of WW2 British (15mm)
- A load of old 1993-1999ish Warhammer Orcs and Goblins

Nice work, that tiling must have taken a while.

That is a lovely looking inn - even better considering its "wonkiness". It would be a great centre piece for any table.

Thanks guys.
The tiling did take a long time, but thankfully it wasn’t individual tiles but strips of lasercut paper tiles from Warbases. Highly recommended!

Outstanding work.
Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

That is a cracking build!

The implied wonkyness only shows in subtle ways and really adds to the 'authenticity' of the building. A project to be proud of for sure  8)

Looks great. Very 1990s old school. The best time for fantasy…
