X-Wing Miniatures Scenery
« on: June 17, 2021, 09:40:18 AM »
In about 5 weeks time, one of my daughters, her partner and three grand-children are coming to visit. Great joy as I have not seen them since before lock-down began last year. She's had to cancel her wedding twice and I have yet to meet the youngest grand-daughter who was born during lock-down last year.

Why is the old git telling us all this guff, you ask? The reason is, my eldest grand-daughter who is 6, is a big Star Wars fan. I am thinking of running a game for her using X-Wing Miniatures fighters and using FfoL Starfighters rules.

I want to copy the Beasts of War ground level scenario on Endor. https://www.beastsofwar.com/eventslist/live-blog-xwing-endor/ I think my grand-daughter will enjoy the challenge of trying to fly through the trees as much as the actual combat. I will be playing Darth-Grampie!

I have plenty of trees, but the reason for posting here is help with some suitable scaled ground scenery. I am thinking laser towers, bunkers, power generators etc. Preferably pre-painted (short timescales) but am interested in anything suitable to represent Star Wars type installations on the ground. I have plenty of bits to make stuff and will be doing some, but as I said short time-scales, so on this occasion, a purchase is better for me than scratch-built.

Can anyone suggest suitable suppliers? My thanks in advance.

(PS would love to find some 1/270 AT-ATs or even AT-STs)

That is an interesting looking scenario. The building look like they might be in the 6-10mm range. Brigade Models and Demonscape (ex GZG) are an option. I can’t think of anything pre-painted unfortunately. Card terrain might be an option?

There's some useful stuff there, thanks Commander Roj. Would you go for 6mm or 10mm on the Brigade Models site? Or can they be mixed, if you are not too fussy?

In fairness I haven’t seen any of the 10mm stuff. I am familiar with the 6mm. It probably depends on the model. I know the owner so I will drop him a line...

Do you have access to a 3D resin printer - there are a lot of Star Wars STL files available including many free items.

Answer from Brigade:

“For 1/270th I'd go with the 6mm stuff - the 10mm ones would look out of scale. And there's far more variety in 6mm, we only have a few 10mm buildings.”

Please post some pics so we can see how you get on.

Not yet, but having seen what people are doing, I'm now quite keen to get one!

I will certainly do that. I have commissioned OSHIRO Models to make me a generator, landing pad and outpost. When they are ready I will post photos. Thanks to everybody for their help.

I will post an AAR at the end of July when we play 'Mission to Endor'!
