Manchu houses
« on: June 21, 2021, 10:46:20 AM »
First attempt to make some Manchu houses...

They were planned since a long time but were delayed because I had pain to understand how the traditional "kang" heating system works.

They still need the ovens in the entrance - kitchen, the doors, and some other details.

I like where you are going with this!
Got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.

Excellent - amazing attention to detail, to make working models in this scale. Did many burn down before you got the heating system right?

That's a great start!  Did you scratch build windows or are they parts from somewhere?

These look great - really like how you've done the roof.

Thanks.  :)

 lol lol Good joke!

...but that's an idea, at least I could include a real small working light in one oven (not in these houses as it would mean more changes, but in another one later).

I can't find proper Chinese traditional windows at this scale... The front windows in these houses are MDF from Sally 4th:

The back ones in the second house are parts of the same, in the first house they are plastic HO intended for miniature railways houses.

These look great - really like how you've done the roof.

At first I had just glued a layer of white polystyrene but then I wanted to try something less regular, as if snow had begun to melt in some places where there is more heat. And differently on the house on the right, which is (greyish light blue towel) thatched.

But if I make more houses I'll probably be happy with something simpler.  lol

Excellent work.  I really like the scratch building on the interiors.
