Revisiting Vikings
« on: July 01, 2021, 12:51:27 AM »
I started these a long time ago
I only painted a few and built a couple of buildings.
A church and a viking hall

I have had a box with a ship in that has been staring at me for a few years so I felt a change in scale might be good
First thing was to waterline the model then build a base.

That looks like an excellent start.  I also have that Revell ship, and have not yet decided how I want to base it.  It don't have a good line to cut perfectly flat along, and so I debate on as is and just putty up the water around it.  Not sure yet though, and so it has sat unfinished for more than a year.

When I did my boat. I simply attacked it with a dremmel. But I have seen one who placed it in sand and then spraypainted the sides, so he had an effective waterline to cut after. If I do another one I think that is the way I would do it.

That is what I done, not very tidy but it will be hidden by the water. I didn't have enough sand or a useful sized container to try the spray painting idea

Looks good to me. I agree, once you put the water on the base, it'll cover any irregularities caused by squinty eyes or unsteady hands...  lol

A bit of progress

The last picture is what is left of the cut, intending to try and use it to build a boat yard with a build in progress
