Plastic Soldier Company 20mm Marines
« on: July 12, 2021, 07:42:51 PM »
Well, this didn't get that good of a review from Plastic Soldier Review:

And at 26 Pounds that's a heck of a lot of money.

Rather notable lack of detail and crispness.

Blurry seems an appropriate adjective. Unusual for PSC as their kits are normally great

It's a shame really, as their metal infantry kits for DAK and Eighth Army were mint  :'(

@Splod, wish I had gobbled-up some of those metal DAK when they were readily available. Nice figs.

Is this an issue in moulding or production? I've got to imagine the original sculpts were sharper than these figures.

They can be painted up to look nice:

Piers Brand painted these up.

I think sometimes we look at all the very fine sculpted details but then just obscure them with thick paint.

Given the small size of the figures what is really seen even at 1 foot away?

I guess a test would be how well they look with Contrast Paints (being very thin) and how well they paint up with a 3 colour process.

I opened a box in a shop and they were crisp, not at all like the sample above!

I'm not sure the reviewer is approaching them as wargaming figures either...

I really like them, but then I like all of Xans sculpts and dislike soft plastic toy soldiers.

So I suspect a little bias in that review, as there is mine. :)
