ProjectBACCHAE - building an army worthy of Dionysos
« on: July 13, 2021, 09:00:32 AM »
Alongside, and sort of trailing behind, ProjectTROY (https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=129015.0), I have been working on a second 28mm project for the year - ProjectBACCHAE. As the army will be used for Fantastic Battles, all companies are based on 60x60mm bases.

To start with, we have the horny hirsute drunken core of the army, the satyrs!*

*May not be actual satyrs; see http://irregularwars.blogspot.com/2021/07/projectbacchae-flock-o-satyrs.html

Adding some character to army:

Dionysos himself along with that wee rogue, Eros (http://irregularwars.blogspot.com/2021/06/projectbacchae-adding-some-characters.html)

... and Pan with some dryads (http://irregularwars.blogspot.com/2021/06/introducing-projectbacchae-triumph-of.html).

You can't have Dionysos with out his kitty-companions (http://irregularwars.blogspot.com/2021/06/projectbacche-leopards-of-dionysos.html)!

I like this army a lot. There are lots of details on the bases, too, like the amphorae, that add to the effect. I’m looking forward to seeing additional units as they’re completed!

Thanks. Anyone with pets will know skin colour often changes depending on the colour of the fur on top (presumably it is actually th opposite, but you know what I mean), so I figured I could get away with multiple skin tones and make what could have been a fairly samey unit a bit more diverse.

There are most certainly maenads in the post!

Thanks. This army is all about the flowers and the colours! There are a few amphorae scattered across the bases, but they tend to be overwhelmed by the flowers!

More units are planned, but waiting on stuff arriving in the post.  ::)

A wonderful idea. One of the reasons we made the satyrs in the first place was so i could do the same thing.
One day I will follow in your footsteps
