Gladiators: A must-have for many of us
« on: July 16, 2021, 05:02:18 AM »
Comrades,
It's disturbing for me to reflect on how long ago I bought these figures with the best of intentions only to perpetually side-line what should have been a snappy, quick-fire exercise in wargaming gratification. I have ideas which can swill about in the forefront of my imagination and planning for years (and years) before I realise them. Well, this is one itch well and truly scratched ... now if I can only locate the rules.
If you are interested in an A-typical approach to Gladiator wargaming then you are more than welcome to my place - - my blog that is. Just click on the link. Hope you get something out of it. I know I have.

I always enjoy seeing more Gladiators on the table.

The other great thing is that there are so many different rulesets you can apply them too, that with these same models you can play dozens of rules! Many of them are even free.

Agreed it is always nice to have a few gladiators - and rules wise there are certainly loads of options. Like your blog and all the Roman goodness.

I love gladiator minis, but I’ve yet to find a set of rules that actually felt like arena combat. Most rules seem to be rolling dice while the figures just stand there.

I agree that many gladiator rules are just dice rolling exercises. I found Jugula to be an excellent set of rules; it is two teams of gladiators, rather than single figures, and it is true to say it is more of a deck building game that has gladiators in it, but it is a really interesting and innovative set. You do need a deck of Jugula cards per player.
