Decals for Empress Vietnam vehicles
« on: July 13, 2021, 08:33:56 AM »
Hi guys,

Buying into the Empress Vietnam range. Any idea of a source of good quality decals which I can use on the armour and soft skins, US, Anzac and NVA?

The scale of the vehicles is more classic modeller scale than Wargames so am finding them tricky to source. Then again probably looking in wrong places!

Any ideas?

Scott

Well, I am generally using Rubicon 1/56 scale decals.

I used two sets of Rubicon DCUA007 Willys MB decals (for the Military Police labels) and theoretically one Rubicon DCUS002 M4 Tank decal sheet (I ended up needing two as I messed up one of the US Army decals and its associated serial number).

The US recognition stars in front of the side doors use the Rubicon 8mm decals, the ones on the rear half of the upper hull are the 5mm ones - all from the DCUS002 sheet.

The registration number is from Rubicon's Jeep kit (I used two sets of transfers, the two from one set, unmodified either side of the bow and one split into USMC and the number and placed one above the other to the left of the rear door). The number is incorrect for the vehicle (and probably too large).

Okay, this is a Soviet T-55.

Rubicon Soviet Tank numbers.

Vietnamese Stars from I-94.

Rubicon have a new range of 1/56 Vietnam models, and hopefully the decal sets will be available separately.

Thanks for the comments guys.Ultravanilla, your decals look good and I will certainly consider those as options. Men of Company B decals have a range which suits. Not quite 1/50 but close enough.
Then again might Empress get into decal production? !

If you check out Hannants, BNA or whatever your local online model superstore is you’ll find ant number of VPAF decals in 1/48 that just need the bars removed. MicroMir’s BTR-60s also contain PAVN decals.

Thanks Carlos, maybe our moderator could put a sticky thread with 1/56-1/50-1/48 scale decals for the various periods of interest.
