MACV-SOG question
« on: August 03, 2021, 10:48:54 AM »
Empress have a pack of us special forces (6 figures).

I want to strengthen them with some NVA/Vietcong minis. As I am a bit lazy, I am not going to convert them!!

But do you have ideas how I should paint them, to differentiate them from the other NVA/Vietcong miniatures?

If you are not going to convert them (outrageous..!), then I'd pick figures without obvious NVA helmets & paint their shirts either camo or OD. If they have the trousers that gather at the ankles paint them the same as NVA/VC; if straight leg trousers, then again go camo or OD.

NVA8 is a good pack to use. ;)

NVA8 is a great choice, also NVA1. Between them it would give you four blokes with backpacks which will mix very nicely with the SOG figures.

Just had a look and nearly all of them (in those two packs) have the straight trousers & most have the canvas boot/shoes.

Hmm.  I may have to steal that idea.  Never thought of that....  :D

That sounds like the components of the SOG groups which I recently read of in the book SOG. Absolutely ripping read, incredible legacy.
Cheers,

yeah, I've seen a few myself. Not sure if they were showing their 'souvenirs' or intending to wear them in the field, wouldn't be surprised if some did.
If you go with that look then even more figures to choose from..!
