Adapting boardgames to miniature gaming

The last few years have been a golden age for wargaming, in its boardgame and miniatures both. Boardgames designers have been exploring new systems to represent war in their games -I use "represent" instead "simulate", deliberately-, trying to get rid of, or at least, limit, the effects of IGOYOUGO models, as well as of the "God effect" that results from the gamer being under complete control of their units. Some designs have proved to be very popular, introducing many new people into wargaming. I am thinking specifically of Chad Jensen's Combat Commander series, or Uwe Eickert's Conflict of Heroes. Others are not that popular -steeper learning curves, such as Last Hundred Yards or Fields of Fire-, but still have a strong following.

I wonder if anybody has tried to adapt any of those games systems into miniature gaming, and if that is the case, what are the problems they have found when doing it.
