“All of this has happened before...and will happen again”

Well it certainly has, when it comes to my Battlestar Galactica project    :D

Long-term LAF’ers will know that I’ve had a 28mm BSG project for more than a decade...it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call it an obsession....even before I got hooked on Game of Thrones.

The hangar bay of my main vessel, for example, has been through 4 designs ... so far ... each time I’ve learnt from the experience, but have “skipped” the previous design, in favour of something that was closer to what I wanted.

So, after a (long) break from BSG I thought I’d start a fresh thread to build a bit of momentum.

If you are interested to see what has gone before, the decade old thread starts here:

Episode 1 - Workhorse of the Fleet

Raptors are central to the BSG series, fulfilling a variety of roles which weren’t present in the original series... Recon, ECM, Troop carrier, Medevac & Heavy Assault.

The trouble is, that until recently, no official model of them existed in a scale usable for 28mm - the only 1/48 scale garage kit from Black Sun Models (mastered by the legend that is Alfred Wong) is long long OOP. To bridge the gap I had a model made a number of years ago to a slightly smaller scale (all I could afford at the time), but a perfect model now exists, with the Eaglemoss range.

The vast majority of the models in the Eaglemoss range are unusable for my purposes...the viper scales are roughly 1/32 to 1/37 for example, but the Raptors are exactly 1/48.

Here is the Eaglemoss raptor, with the 1/48 Black Sun Models garage kit on the right

So my rebooted project begins with the workhorse of the fleet....

....and the Heavy Assault variant

The backdrop is from DeepCut Studios.

Here we go again!
 lol lol

Only kidding, as I really enjoyed your previous thread.
The only downside to this, from a personal point of view, is that I have been putting together some bits for a Classic Galactica project and really do not need to be sidetracked away from my Marine project to another galaxy before I finish.
Damn you!
 ;) :)

I shall be resisting the temptation to see if anyone has made any Classic period models in a suitable scale since I last checked......I hope!

Luckily I already have the Tangent and CD stuff, so that is no temptation but the Landram in the third link is a bit of a bugger!

Funnily enough I’ve got one of those Landrams inbound...I spoke with Keith the other day and he kindly added the 28mm version to his shop, as it appears in both TOS and the Reimagined BSG.

Sorry mate  lol

I assume that if either had been on the left they'd have been in the gift shop.  ;D

Also you're a nutter in the best way, now get on with it.

Funny, since we talked at BLAM about it I waited for new stuff. Two days abo I had a talk about a savage worlds conversion of BSG (old or new). Now your stuff. I think it is the right time for BSG again.

Episode 2 - Land Ram ATV

Especially for Mason....I took some photos of the parcel sat on my desk this morning.  ;)

Land Rams feature quite heavily in some of the early episodes of TOS, but also find their way into the reimagined BSG, and so I was really chuffed when Keith from Cozmic kindly added a 28mm version to his shop...great company to deal with, and I can’t speak highly enough of the service and the product.

I’ve included a mini in the second shot - it’s an Empress Modern US, with a TAG headswop.

Thinking about adding some lights to the model, there is enough room inside.

My own project relates to a ship(s) separate from the ragtag fleet, so it’s possible that the Land Ram might see plenty of action.

 :)

Just read your older thread - wow.

Got me thinking where you've kept it for the pat 4 years.

Do you live in a TARDIS?
