Huge Scatter Terrain Camp
« on: July 28, 2021, 06:55:59 AM »
This is my scratchbuilt "AWI Militia Hideout" Camp.
Somewhere in the back country of GA/SC/NC/VA
A place when local militia might gather before going off on a small raid.
Maybe a regrouping point after a battle with the local Torries.

One note! I do know that the Bell tents are not period perfect.
But they are modular and can be removed, or not used in the first place, should someone object.
Personally, I just like the way they look.

I had a great time making this. Really fun.

Hmm, makes me think about fixing up my camps. Won't be near as nice as yours, but they could use improving.
And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

Oh, this is sweet! I especially like the pond and the slight variations of the colour of the leafs on the trees. Having the camp as several more or less modular bases is very clever indeed. I'll keep that in mind once I get to do a camp!

Gentlemen,  Thank you all for your kind comments.

Battle Brush,  I went to your site and you are an outstanding painter.
Amazing brushwork!!!
I should have guessed, because you spotted the color variations in the grasses and leaves.
It takes an artists eye to appreciate that.

I cannot paint figures worth a lick. Yet I very much appreciate the talents of people who can.
I did paint all the tents, barrels, boxes etc.

By the way, the pieces do interlock. I made sure of that when I cut the MDF out.

I do hope to see all of you steal whatever you can from me and display the results here.
I certainly did!

I love all the undergrowth - very realistic. And I agree, great idea about the interlocking pieces.

The undergrowth is just rubberized horsehair teased out, spray painted and covered in Noch "leaves".

Very simple to do and I agree that it looks realistic. Give it a try.

:D Thanks, that's very kind of you to say. Mostly I picked up on it because the other day I set up a gaming table for a solo game, and had my old (slightly ruddy) trees in hand, and for a split second I was considering repainting them or re-foliage them or something. They're starting to show their age a bit. Also, I just really like the look of that varied vegetation you built there. Looks very natural and pleasant. Don't get me started on rubberized horsehair though. :D It's a thing that seems to be readily available over in the UK, but here in mainland Europe it's rather hard to come by without having to pay outrageous sums.

The fact that the bases interlock of course makes the whole thin even better!
