Crusades Armenians and Byzantines 15mm
« on: July 17, 2021, 04:27:30 PM »
I finished a couple more units for my Crusades project.

The first one is Armenian and it may be of interest that it contains both Museum and Blue Moon figures.  I'm happy enough with how they fit together.

The second is all from Outpost's  Byzantine range.  I'd be comfortable to field them as Armenians too.

Looking good! I like the bright colours and the neatly done details on these.
My armies:
- Henry VIII's army (WIP) 15mm
- Ancient Germans (28mm)
- Ancient Belgae (Gauls with German allies) (28mm)
- Massilian Greeks (Greeks and Gallic mercenaries/subjects) (28mm)
- A few EI Romans (28mm)
- Handful of WW2 British (15mm)
- A load of old 1993-1999ish Warhammer Orcs and Goblins

Thanks both.

Shortly I hope to start on my Varangian Guard. I have a pack of Legio Heroica Anglo Danes that should do the job.  I'll be interested to see how they turn out.

Then I have a bunch of Outpost First Crusade Norman cavalry for the Latinikon.  I'd quite like to replace the spears with wire ones but the hands nay be too delicate for that.  We will see.

So far I'm finding Legio Heroica, Museum and Outpost work well enough together.  I can add Blue Moon foot to that list now.  I haven't tried their cavalry yet as I suspect the riders will be too small.

Another Armenian unit with Blue Moon and Museum 15mm figures.

I now have 7 of them and I need 12 units for a suitable army.  Given the period I think I can safely add a unit of Frankish crossbow men to the mix.

Great stuff, really enjoy your Crusades collecting and painting.  I myself have a collection with just using Blue Moon figs.

Keep up the great work!

Much appreciated MGH.  I like the Blue Moon foot and might get more as I currently don't have any Zanj "wild" Sudanese.  The cavalry are probably too small to fit with my Legio Heroica fellows.  A shame as they do look nice.

My next Crusades unit is going to be Pisan's with a red and white colour scheme.  I've found a nice flag for them too.

Thanks Bill, I'm looking forward to giving my Crusades stuff another outing.
