Czech Legion force
« on: September 15, 2009, 09:01:47 AM »
I finally managed to shoot some photos of a small project I started in spring. It is a small Czech Legion force intended for use with the T&T System. Since most people choose Reds or Whites I decided to go for something else. The Czech Legion's story is a truly adventurous one:
http://web.mac.com/czechlegion/TheCzechLegion/Introduction.html

And now some miniatures. Czech this out!  lol

The complete force consist of four units.

Riflemen. The leader with the SMG is from the 'Koshei's Cossack'- Blister from Artizan. I used Bolsheviks in great coats from Copplestone for the ORs. In wintertime Siberia is not the warmest place on earth ;)

Riflemen with HMG. The leader is another miniature from Artizan the others are Copplestone miniatures.

Col. Jaroslav Schlawinsky and his "HQ". If you wonder about the woman: the armed forces were accompanied and supported by several thousand civilians on their way eastward towards Vladivostok. These were mostly Czechoslovakian immigrants who wanted to return from their Russian exile to their -now independent- home nation.
The flag is not a Polish one. White and red are also the colours of Bohemia, the nucleus of Czechia. During the first years of independence Poland and Czechoslovakia had the same flag until Czechoslovakia added the blue triangle for better distinction and to accommodate the missing colour of the Slovakian flag (white-blue-red).

And finally the gun.

I just filed the stars down and painted the stripes directly on the caps. I suppose the stripes were made from fabric and thus there would be virtually no relief in 28mm scale.

Inspiring stuff indeed!  I'm about to paint up some Brigade Game Shock Troops for my RCW project so having the opportunity to view a nicely put-together and painted unit like this really lights a fire under my behind :o!  Thanks for sharing.

It was Nowonwantstogosersk and I'm still waiting for pics of this humiliating defeat of mine... Thank goodness there won't be a repitition as really no one wants to go there... again.

Osprey are releasing a MAA on the Czech Legion any day now. I have promised myself to start painting my Czech force once it comes. You have convinced me that now its time!
