Doomhippie, Grimnir and me played a game 6 weeks ago. And the town we were fighting for was called Nowonwantstogosersk ( No One Wants to go there ). The battle was famous for its enormous off table artillery explosion into a forrest.
 :)
The boys will kick my butt if Iam not writing a game report very soon.

That's a lovely collection and some very tasty painting.  :-*

You might just have inspired me to dig out those two packs of Siberian rifles languishing in the lead mountain...

As I am a traditional RPG geek I always need a story for my games. Even if it's only in my sick mind. Years ago a cousin of mine and me drew a map of a fictious continent/world, which was an ironic comment on 19th and 20th century world politics. As we used lots of historic persons with slightly altered names as politicians there (Stalin became Eisin: the man of steel became the man of iron; something along this line), we also decided to use place and city names slightly altered but recognizable as the original place (England became King-George-Land, Scotland became Kilt County etc...). And Novonwantstogosersk was the name of a town in the wastelands in the far east, where poltical prisoners were sent.

While this project is dead and gone, once in a while the names come back to me and I just use them for myself as some kind of narrative/excuse to play a game.

Call it a history teacher's way of dealing with history...

Oh, You mean Minusgrad at the border to the Republic of Bakovbyondsk?

Well, due to a referendum of the High Soviet of Bakovbyondsk, it is still disputed where the city actually belongs. According to President Anatoly Fukov, former secretary of the peoples' cooperative of Permafrost, Bulletsk and Heavymetalsk Oblast, the High Soviet in Evencoldersk threatens the repatriation by force of their former Comic Works.
Since the loss of Permafrost works, heavy damage has been done to the Bakovbyondsk heavy sewing machine industry.  :D

speaking of czech legion
I recently noticed that in russian movies the Czech Legion is always shown in Austro-Hungarian uniform, which is as I understood, rather unhistorical

maybe propaganda to show them as Alien?

I suppose it is propaganda. The Russian administration reacts quite aggressively these days when "Foreign Powers" are meddling with what they consider as "internal affairs (Chechnya, Georgia, ... the Caucasus in general). In these respect they see the Czechoslovak legion as a foreign power like the expeditionary forces of the other nations that were involved in the RCW.

it was especially interesting in the Kolchak movie, where the Czechs were shown as more an enemy than the reds
when thinking that Kolchak wasn't able to move an inch without them...
the world is upside down

but what do I expect..
for generations people in Russia were indoctrinated with propaganda....

I agree.  We need more Czechs.  They are perfect wargames army material
