Question: run over by vehicles
« on: September 16, 2009, 10:51:45 AM »
good morning ladies and gentlemen

we recently encountered the problem that there seems to be no covering for the incident when a vehicle rams something - ostacle/people - be it deliberately ot due to compulsive movement

I may have missed something, but are there any suggestions for this option?

Thank You

We've encountered the same problem and made up some ad hoc rule. I think Björn was starting to think of some rules for that but as far as I know there is as of now no final rule.

I'd suggest something along the line of speed having some kind of direct effect on the number of damage dice you roll to the vehicle. On the other hand, a tank should have nor problem ramming a tree, smashing through a wall or even into a house (except being in danger of throwing a track or something like that).

This might be a good time to collect a few ideas. I hope I'm not being too pushy here. Maybe Björn has already come up with his own ideas...

can't be bad to offer some suggestions

maybe the vehicle class (weight) and the actual speed
=impetus
should be related to the amount of damage caused
along with accio=reaccio, the relative speed of the collision partners should play a role

then the cumulated damage amount according to impetus should be distributed between two partners, going with the type of Collision  (elastic or unelastic)

as such, two equally heavy vehicles crashing against each other would distribute the damage by

(speed1+speed2) : 2 relation
wheras a vehicle crashing against a rock would absorb all the damage
as would a unit run over by a tank (eg: vehicle class x speed class = number of wounds inflicted)

or so

I  had some rules for collisions in mind. I was thinking of vehicle class too.
A damage table in ascending order of the vehicle class combined with speed. Something like that.
Looking forward to your suggestions.
