I ran a campaign during a game weekend last month using the Ruthless rules and some custom scenarios.
Burton Family versus the Red Hand Gang.
Game one was the carriage chase - that saw one of the burton sons killed by a Sharps rifle as the carriage careened across the bridge. He’d taken over the driving duty after his buddy got shot up during some well done fan firing. Burton family carriage escaped.
Game two was an encounter at the burton family farm (loot counter grab). The burton family secured a crack shot bounty hunter and called for the help of an old civil war comrade. He showed up on horse back and helped sweep chase the red hand gang off. Burton family got a bulk of the loot that everyone was trying to collect (had fallen off the wagon as it moved back into their land).
Game three was the showdown at the town of Redding (an attempt to secure the town lawyer Mr. Creedy). Each scenario had variable set up. During this one the remaining burton son snuck into town to be with his girl, so he deployed in the saloon very close to the enemy (not good). But the red hand gang had decided to blow off some steam and a few members began the game drunk. The game was deadly, with the towns folk caught in the crossfire. An opening fan fire saw a man shot in the head, an overwatch fire killed another man. Red hand gang down two. But the town sherif trying to stop the fighting killed two more men. Burton family down two. The red hand gang leader (keach) and the burton family leader (Josiah) ended in fisticuffs back and forth on the saloon porch - keach was felled… at this point all three of the main red hand gang members were killed and the campaign ended.
We didn’t play on the final corn field/homestead/barn board. That would have been the fourth and final campaign game. Next time!
