Maybe Henry Cavill will swoop in and buy it? I'm sure £8k would not be very much of an issue for him... and he loves 40k too :) .

... and he'd definitely be able to lift it... what with being Superman and all ;) :D !

Winds up in a bidding war with Lex Luthor, wins but has to resort to squeezing so much coal into diamond to pay for it that the global diamond market crashes.  Lex gets pissed off at losing the auction and LexCorp South Africa going bankrupt, calls in the Necrons, whose glowing green motif turns out to be from all the Kryptonite powering them.  Shenanigans with Metallo ensue.

Good damn thing I have no interest in writing fanfic, isn't it?  :)

I think if someone wants to pay this much, as long as they can afford it,fair play to them. If I added up all my airbrushes and SF3d kits it would probably end up more than £8000 quid, and the fellow who painted it etc is very skilled,so why not?

Started at £1 but with 29 bidders with 86 bids and nearly 6 days to go there will be one hell of a bidding war at the end!

I admit I'm curious to see what it winds up at, and perhaps more interestingly whether the winning bidder actually pays for it.  I've been trolled by non-paying bidders in years past (albeit for comparatively tiny amounts) and ebay was useless for extracting payment or banning the offender - although that may have improved since then.

I find it hilarious that someone along the way put in a 7,000 bid only to retract it 2 minutes later with one imagines his wife slapping him on the back of the head.

Well 101 bids later and a lucky person scoops it up for a spiffing £25,600

Hope the shipping negotiations go just as well for both parties.

As Inspector Gadget would say, wowsers.  That's a fair chunk of change.

That's the American usage of wowsers, of course.  It's got a weird array of very different meanings for such an obscure word.  Makes me look back at Inspector Gadget and wonder if there's some kind of bizarre in-joke going on there.
