What a Tanker!
« on: August 28, 2021, 04:26:57 PM »
A British tanker in 1/35 scale from the Tommy's War range. He will form part of a diorama I am working on, hence the less-than-impressive base:

Very nice painting, on an interesting figure

Are you going for WWI in all scales at the minute?

Lovely job on a nice miniature.  I especially like your skin tones and his expression.
Only thing I would say is that Tommy’s war stuff is in 1/32nd, not 1/35th, so if your dio involves 1/35th kit he’s going to look a bit big…..

Pretty much  ;)  My go-to is 6mm for large scale battles. 15mm for Crossfire. 28mm for Bolt Action games with my sons. This figure is purely for show  :)  All part of clearing down the lead (and resin) pile...

Thank you. You are quite right about the 1/32nd scale for Tommy's War. The British MkIV tank is 1/32nd scale too, so all good (so far).

Excellent….if the tank comes out as well as the figure it’s going to be a cracking dio.

Here is the 1/32 tank from Scalelink. She is a Mark IV female, named 'Flirt II' (formally 'F4').

The model was missing several parts. I tried contacting the manufacturer but never got a reply. So it was out with the CAD software. Here is the part that sits under the top of the track at the rear. The photo-etch part was scanned. The image helped to get the size of the new part sorted:

Here are the parts in the slicer software, which is used to create the 25 micron horizontal layers that the 3D printer builds the models with:

That’s quite a lot of bits to be missing from a kit. Not good from the manufacturer.

Excuse my ignorance, but......brown boots for a corporal?  (Or is that specific to tank crews?)

No plan survives first contact with the dice.

This is a man who knows he's right but has perfected the art of tact and diplomacy.
Exodus 1:10 KJV
Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.

Lovely work.  Nice to see a bigger model for a change.

Thanks, James. It nearly didn't make it to the table though. Thank goodness for 3D printing (or plasticard if I had really needed to)  ;)

Just working on the diorama base now.
