'Tanks for that'
« on: September 01, 2021, 06:41:24 PM »
Vodkafan & I finally got Mac's Mecha to come round
to my place for a game. Trying to wean him off 1/35th
tanks & onto smaller scales.
he has played What a Tanker before & he brought along
a recently built Cromwell. Lots of chatting but got a game
in as well. Vodkafan took a Hetzer & we got started.
Few pictures, but here is what I took:-
The set up, a small French town, post D-Day.
His Cromwell hunting for Jerry,
He's behind you!
First of many shots, not all hitting their targets.
A HIT !!!!
'Allo 'Allo, who has come out to complain about the
damage to his Cafe, caused by all the missed shots
no doubt.

The game was tremendous fun, and it's always a treat to meet like-minded folk to play with too! My Cromwell needs a name now, to go with its victory tag. I'll have a look around for some inspiration and be sure to bring it next time we play WAT. But before then, I'll get the Spanish and Roman troops painted up to play!

Nice little battle.  Can't beat tank on tank action.

I'm sure someone from higher up will be by directly to reimburse the Cafe owner for his trouble...

I just love the way they deal with people talking different languages.
The scene where the two Airmen think Rene wants their watch lol

& the British Spy disguised as a Gendarme, but getting the
words slightly wrong, 'I was pissing by the door'
whoever thought of that is a genius.

One of my favourites.

What continue to amaze me is just how popular it is overseas!   It has been translated into other languages and is still funny!  How does that work?

I do recall Fawlty Towers doing well in Spain.
Manuel simply became either Italian or Portuguese.

Thanks Norm. When I add my collection to Flatpack's
we could cover the table. Might have to do a whole
'Take the Town' game sometime.

In Brazilian Portuguese, Mané, the diminutive of Manuel, is a popular term for fool or idiot, someone who is easily gulled. My wife adores FT.
