Very nice work on those. The little additions really add character to the already lovely miniatures.

It is also good to see Hasslefree dwarfs next to GW ones. There is a little size difference but not too much as to be jarring - it has spurred me on to grab some HF dwarfs next time I work on that particular part of my collection.

Thank you.

The Hasslefree Dwarves are delightful sculps and are a joy to paint  The GW are a touch smaller, but I think you can get away with it for a less armoured and bareheaded figure. I have yet to see how the Oathmark metal figures scale up next to them. The plastics are much taller.

Excellent dwarfage, Nicholas. The shields are brilliant. Your painting is getting just too good. Stop it immediately lol

Here are some of the characters on a recent jolly to expel a necromancer and his skeleton horde from the ruined temple of the Seven Tears of Wisdom.

Played the second of our Fistful of Lead Fantasy games yesterday, this time the Dwarves had an outing against an Orc force intent on burning and slaughtering a human settlement in the Mid-Lands.

Here is a link to the first Game the Dwarves appeared in just in case anyone missed it.

https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=134617.msg1708960#msg1708960

Onto the game, with a couple of shots to set the scene, the village of Cumwinton on the Trickle. The Orc attack will come from across the bridge.

Dawn breaks and the sleepy village slowly comes to life, unawares of the horrors yet to come. Figures and terrain boards from my collection, buildings made by the excellent OshiroModelTerrain

Dwarf mercenaries and a Magic User hired by the villagers to protect them from marauding Orc warbands.
From left to right: Robert of Coltrane, Robert "Bob" Mortemur, Ronald de Corbett, Peter of Dincklage, Herve de Villachaize and Warwick Le Davis.

The Orc horde from the OshiroModelTerrain collection:

From Left to right: Twonk, Gronk, Blog the Troll, Grimfoot Ironballs, Bogrot the Mystical

The orcs crossed the bridge quickly led by the huge Troll and started to set fire to the cottages on the outskirts of the village. The thatch roofs caught fire quickly and the rampage began!

Viillagers run to escape the slaughter.

One of the scenario conditions was that every time an orc was killed some  villagers would join the fight, encouraged by seeing the enemy killed. An early kill by Bob Mortemur the archer meant three armed villagers move cautiously forward, wary of the huge troll rapidly approaching:

The Dwarves hampered by slow movement due to their short legs and heavy armour took a while to catch up. Sizing up the Troll they wondered which would be brave enough to go first:

Unfortunately things didn't go well and both Peter of Dincklage and Herve de Villachaize fell to the combined efforts of the Troll and the Orc Chieftain Grimfoot Ironballs.

What became of the rest of the Dwarves and the Mage you may ask? Sadly the Dwarves perished in a fireball sent from an Orc shaman:

One lucky shot from Bob the archer and the Orc chief was dead. Unfortunately Robert of Coltane, a mage of dubious origins failed catastrophically (he rolled a one) to ignite a lightening bolt which he was preparing for the Orc Shaman and managed to send himself to the Netherworld instead with maximum damage on a wound roll.

So the remaining Orcs (an archer and a Shaman) won the day!

Another excellent game of Fistful of Lead, the action ebbed and flowed, at one point it looked like the Dwarves were going to win only to see victory snatched from their grasp by catastrophy! Much fun was had by James from Oshiro and I.
