Fantastic stuff!

I'm particular interested in your river actually... do you have any detailed shots of it? Is it built into a terrain board? What technique or product did you use for your water effect?
(whenever I see a river I like I want to know how it was done, and I store the information for the day when I finally make my own river terrain boards!!!)

Hi,
Thanks for your comments.
The river board is two 6mm MDF boards glued together with the river shape cut from the top board. It was painted several shades of blue many years ago and then topped with approx 8-10 coats of gloss yacht varnish.
I decided to refurbish the boards a couple of months ago as the river was too blue so I bought a tin of gloss wood  stain and gave the river two coats. It has had the desired effect of darkening it down. I then added the reeds and bullrushes later.. you can get the wood stain in various shades of pine through to dark woods. It’s very much like varnish with an ink added.
It’s a pretty simple, basic technique, the effect is mostly down to multiple layers of varnish to give it depth and how the light reflects off it.

This all looks amazing. I’ve not played Fistful of Lead rules, but they can give a good a game with only 5-6 models per side? I’m on the lookout for a very low model count fantasy game, so this is interesting.

They are designed specifically for groups of 5-8 or so figures per player. Perfect for small numbers of figures and players.

Absolutely they can. We've played with 5 figures each quite regularly. For the Fantasy dungeon stuff you will definitely want some dungeon denizens too.

Aha, another vote for yacht varnish then. It's either going to be  fancy resin water effect product, or varnish. Thanks!

Three more Dwarves to add to my force and some scenic  rock pieces.

Hasslefree Miniatures with Oathmark plastic hands and weapons and Gripping Beast heater style shields.
