Gear Krieg T-34 superscience tanks - update 10-25
« on: September 18, 2009, 03:36:05 PM »

The above tank platoon consists of superscience tanks and conventional T-34/85.
I used Flames of War T34/85 as a base and added DP9 Tesla gun and some GZG building fittings as stand ins for the Sonic projector and the Thermal gun.

T34/85 Sn Sonic Tank

Sonic Projectors - Sonic weapons were developed by the Kriegsmarine for the Walrus amphibious Panzerkaempfer, though this weapon was also fitted to a number of Panzers and used in a land-based role.
Like their German counterparts, Russian scientists also became interested in the applications of sound as a weapon. Concentrated sound waves caused exposed vehicle crew and infantry to experience nausea, disorientation and unconsciousness within a wide area. However, troopers wearing heavy armour and vehicle crew inside their tanks were protected from this effect. The weapon was indiscriminate as well, and Russian troops were often caught in the effects of their own weapon. Nevertheless, the Russians, hard-pressed to find any weapon to combat the Germans, eagerly mounted these large rotating dishes on the tops of T-34 tanks and sent them into the field in considerable numbers.

T34/85 H Thermal Tank

Thermal Ray - Russian scientists were also fascinated by the immense defensive potential of Russia's harsh temperatures, and started to work on technological means to control heat for defensive purposes. The result was a series of special "thermal rays," capable of generating localized heat and cold zones.

T34/85 T Tesla Tank

I just love the Gear Krieg background that gives me so much inspiration for cool, pulpy superscience vehicles!
More soon...

We need to get you outta that 15mm and up to 28mm for all these great conversions.  You need to make some victim bases of piles of dust or glowing skeletons.

Great stuff as always,
Brian

Resistance is futile...
 ;)
Thanks guys.
Well I love my 28mm minis, but 15 and 20mm also has its merits.
And since all Gear Krieg minis are in 15mm, I just need some minis to accompany them!

My google-fu says <<Взвод экспириментально бака>> but my Russian is rubbish.

Reverse google-fu says "Platoon (ekspirimentalno) of the Tank" which means it can't remember the English for 'experimental' I guess. So maybe <<баков>> is better: I tried 'Platoon of Experimental Tanks' which is really what you mean I think - there's more than one tank, and it's the tanks not the platoon that are experimental.

Hope it helps some.

Grand - can't decide whether the sonic or the thermal T is my favourite  8) 8)
I'd been working (or rather not working) on a 1:35 scale PzII with a superweapon, but it is far too large for 28mm; what would you recommend?
15 and 20mm have one supreme benefit - easier to store. They also make for a nice 'massed forces' look when you get a lot together.

What kind of weapon do you have in mind?
