General Junot's ADCs and Staff; looking for Intel.
« on: September 18, 2021, 12:44:38 PM »
General Junot is an interesting enigma to me. He dressed like a flamboyant cavalry officer but he seems to have been more like any other aggressive French general; in the van but not doing any personal fighting. Am I wrong about this? There don't seem to be that many sketches of him in combat or descriptions of him and his staff.

Also, if he is wearing all those plumes and feathers, what are his ADCs and staff like? Does anyone know if they were also flamboyant or just the plain, dark blue uniforms and black bicornes ADCs French general usually had?

Junot is often represented with his Colonel general of hussars uniform but this uniform is certainly not his battle uniform because this dress is known to have been used for Napoleon coronation and then certainly a parade dress. Junot was not a great general. Even if he was a personnal friend of Napoleon, he never received the marshal statut. His ADC are certainly commonly dressed with regular ADC uniforms for division generals...
