I bought the pretty book from my good friend Gunbird.

Im really new to this kind of historical fantasy sortof stuff...

Anybody has a good idea for some models? I love kitbashing so it is ok to come up with exotic ideas!
im thinking LOTR Dunlendings for metals or Victrix vikings with gw bitz but im open to suggestions!

North Star's Frostgrave barbarian set is also pretty good, very modular and lots of spare parts.  A real kitbasher's friend, that whole range.

If you like Vikings I can recommend Gripping Beast - their viking kits are loaded with various bits and bobs.  Really nice stuff.

While I like the Gripping Beast vikings for historicals, they aren't as good for the more fantastic side of things

Reaper has a bunch of appropriately heavy-metal and over-scaled stuff that might work.

I made a force out of their new plastic snakemen and one out of their plastic dark dwarves.
