12mm ACW game (fictitious Mill Creek)
« on: September 30, 2021, 08:29:19 AM »
Another go at the fictitious Mill Creek scenario for an 1863 ACW game with 12mm figures on a 4' x 3' 8" table.

3 Confederate brigades attack 2 Union brigades and they must achieve their objectives before the Union reinforcement brigade arrives.

The scenario was intended as a solution to learn the basics of new rules quickly in a small format game.

An AAR is up on the blog LINK

That's a very nice setup you have there Norm, well impressive. Them 12mm Munchkins look well impressive en masse.

very nice. I think the three bases per unit look better.
As I already have lots of 28mm ACW I won't be doing
it in 12mm, but...(impressed as I am with your set-up)
I will be keeping an eye open for the (possible)12mm ECW.

Thanks all. I totally agree that the three base look is better and am somewhat at a loss why I didn’t do that, as I usually do!

interestingly 3 x 40mm for my 12mm bases is 120mm and my 28’s are on 50mm bases, so three of those bases would only be 150mm, so just a 30 difference on the unit frontage between the 12’s and the 28’s.

Three 12mm units in the front rank have 12 men and three 28mm units in the front rank have 9 men.

That is surprisingly close when perceived wisdom is that only the smaller scale should grace the smaller table etc etc.

I just swapped out the bridge for my 28mm bridge, which has a relatively small footprint to see what that looks like and even that did not have a big impact on the table.

Agree with the comments above: looks great, and the 3 bases per unit look better.

With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss
