Instead of finishing the giant I got distracted with some sapper conversions and model selection… the sculpted helmets need more work. I still want to add 5 more, but one is a cargo mule, so only 4 spots to fill.

Just found this tread, and it's super! The army is overall a beauty, but the sculpting is really outstanding!

That's a great reference! Wish I did that on purpose ;D

Thanks all for the comments... I really need to get back to painting too...

Ooh; now that can't be unseen!

I'm loving the sappers. The heavily laden one on the left I have as well. He was intended to be a porter for a(n apparently pretty succesful) band of murderhobo's in a dungeon somewhere, together with some compatriots, but I found the miniature to be rather tall compared to the heroes he was to follow, so he now lives on Lead Mountain. He seems to work just fine here though!

Is the female smith type from Reaper too btw?
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

He is quite a big lad! I guess I´ll just assume he was a very well fed farmboy before joining the sapper corps :P

The female smith is a Bombshell miniatures mini, I've checked and it's not available in the site, so I'm thinking she might have been a KS exclusive. Patrick Keith was the sculptor and he has done a lot of stuff for Reaper, so the style is recognizable.

I could never match your sculpting but the way you did the patterns on the clothing is so natural-looking it has me peanut butter and jealous.

There are those who seek knowledge in order to serve; that is Love.”

A long time ago I was painting some Celtos minis and I ‘discovered’ my tartan way of painting after looking at some other people doing it and thinking they were crazy.

I pick a base color, a neutral color (50/50 grey works with almost everything) and a contrasting lighter color. I picked red, grey and sand for this army. I paint the base color, then I do vertical lines (it depends on the folds of the fabric if they’re parallel or not), then horizontal lines. After that I do the same with the neutral color in between the previous lighter lines, cutting them. After that I wash everything in a wash as close as possible of the base color and that ‘blends’ the pattern.

Hope that helps!

Great stuff, I'm very impressed by anyone who can sculpt, especially a whole giant.

The plaid looks really good as others have said. I'd like to see a picture of that whole human unit posted earlier but from the front.

Talking about getting distracted a little of threadomancy…

Giant is sculpted and I started painting it. I also painted a couple of models too. The idea was to paint an archer unit in June, but I’m late… got distracted by assembling and sculpting orcs and goblins, but I’m back into humans and getting a fully painted list.
