28mm Crusades Sword & Spear game
« on: 18 October 2021, 08:57:48 AM »
Somewhere in Outremer about 1300 points each side split into two commands. Carmarthen Old Guard Club all dayer.

Three new players, one experienced and myself umpiring. Each command had it's own colour dice in the "draw dice bag".

A few extra bits thrown in to aid command and control. The Crusaders had double distance command zone from their camps and the Seljuks had mobile camps (baggage train). Also put two random event dice, to be rolled and see what happens!

The Seljuks right flank command broke and the left was 5 points away from it's first army test. Both crusader commands were close to first army tests at pack up time.

Got about six turns in, over the day, with three newbies with large armies, wasn't bad at all.

There were two units of crossbows either side of the foot knights, but got "diced" away over two turns of awesome dicing by the Seljuks.

If it isn't enjoyable, it isn't gaming!

Always lovely to see so many toys on the table.  :-*

I've always wanted to put together a Seljuk force- one for later when I have worked my way up from my 6th CE Byzantines!  :o

Impressive forces on both sides of the table! I'm sure it was a lot of fun seeing them clash in close combat and as an umpire you could only win…  :D
