I found one who looks like the old Italian TV series James Brooke, from Foundry. - part of an explorers pack chock full of pukkah pith helmet retired officer types.
But not the real chap, shown here in your pic. Looks as if David Tennant could act the part - looks quite like him.

Yes, there is. An Australian firm, I believe, but the name slips my mind. They make a lot of dayaks, whaling boats, polynesian outriggers and what have you. Not great looking but a cool  Can anyone remember the name?

Got it! Scheltrum miniatures of UK, not Oz. Here's a link: http://www.scheltrum.co.uk/dyaks.html

Thanks for the link! I qute like the British Naval landing party. They might be transformed into Dutch sailors.....

But the real prizes here are the ships and scenery. Completely reasonable.

All this forr 11.5 pounds!

Suppose in 25/28mm
Apart from Scheltrum ones:

Eureka has some suitable figures (Dayak and Hawaians-that can pressed to service)
Tiger Miniatures has Lombok warriors and Sultan troops, that might be used.
Steve Barber and Britannia Miniatures also have  Napoleonic naval landing parties, which might also be useful.

As far as I remember from previous postings someone has used a Foundry figure ( an Indian chieftain with helmet and sword) from their Indian range to represent Sandokan.
I believe that for the named heroes you need to emplyee figures from other ranges and mostly Foundry's Indian Mutiny ranges.

Ooh, nice boat!  :-*  Replace that bows carronade with something more suitably late Victorian and I can see some definite gaming possibilities!

One of Copplestone's RN officers would probably fill the role quite nicely:

Maybe you should send him (or the BBC) the suggestion ?

If you get to be the scriptwriter, repay us by commissioning a set of figures !

Hah! I'll put it down on my list of things to do.... pity his role as a Doctor is coming to an end, I'd have had him land in Borneo to discover that Rajah Brooke is his spitting image - fully human, but a twin. The TARDIS lands in Dyak territory of course, and the Dayaks are pleased they've apparently captured Brooke. One of the Dayak chiefs wants to execute him, another would use him as a bargaining counter, and the Doctor's fate is in the balance. Meanwhile, Brooke himself is planning....

er - sorry, going off track here.... right, opening scene - the painting of Brooke, for the duration of the titles - music: something dramatic with a savage Dayakcky nature; the painting is replaced by Brooke himself who walks out of the landscape behind him right into the first scene. Sailors are rushing around on the deck of a small vessel as he walks across the scene; as he looks out to see we suddenyl realise the ship is surrounded by a sea of dayak canoes - Brooke stares fiercely at them, and the camera closes onto his eyes and the Dayak war cries are replaced by children shouting - cut to Brooke's infancy....

Ok. Coffee time.

Perhaps the Doctor misheard who was causing trouble in Borneo  and thought it was his old enemy....
