The Troll Hunts: My First Game Of Silver Bayonet
« on: January 07, 2022, 08:41:42 PM »
This is for anyone not on the FaceBook group...

OK, so I played my first solo game of " The Silver Bayonet." I chose Scenario 4 from the rulebook, The Troll Hunts, because I don't have enough wolves, revenants, or bandits for the other three scenarios. To be honest, I thought the troll was going to be the scary monster, but the goblins have a high defense that makes them very hard to eliminate. Plus a couple of my guys (including my Officer) absolutely REFUSED to wake up until the game was almost over. We didn't even get to the last clue marker.

The game plays smoothly. The Power dice/Skill dice mechanic is a bit different and takes some getting used to, but is easy enough to implement after a few rolls.

In the end, my warband lost everyone except three Infantrymen. Goblins are nasty, nasty business. The troll accounted for one guy. As I was cleaning up, I realized I forgot about the goblin I placed at the end of Turn 5. He might have eaten the last three Infantrymen o.0

Sounds, like it was fun and tough game! I just received the book a week ago and looking forward to playing solo games. No one around to game with.
