Anywhere sell single Perry Miniatures?
« on: October 30, 2021, 07:34:54 PM »
The Silver Batonet looks like the game to scratch my Napolionic itch

I've been scanning through the Perry Site and can see lots of potential but unfortunatly it's only ever one or two in several sets.

I've tried ebay with no luck so I was wondering if anyone out there sells single Perry miniatures?

I'm not aware of anywhere but that would be great if someone did! So many useful minis within packs but probably not commercially viable  :(

You can get some of the sprues from http://https://thesprueshop.co.uk/ols/categories/perrys-miniatures but no metals.

Another option is to use the Alternative Armies Flintloque range of fantasy animal based figures https://www.alternative-armies.com/collections/beginning-in-flintloque-the-skirmish  :o

The AA Dead and goblins will be on my list but I only play with metal so it seems I'm holding out

not sure why Perry went down the road they did - I'd be more than happy to buy the single minis I want for more to save on the waste

Because in the real world of business, it is uneconomic to sell single figures (or you have to create moulds for each figure) - much more efficient to create a mould that produces 3-4 packs on each spin that can be packed and you earn £8 froma  sale rather than £2.

Also saves having loads of different figures around to look for and takes less time to pack an order.I could not imagine how many miniatures are in the Perry range.Doing them as singles would be a nightmare. So doing them in packs reduces the costs to the customers and save time for those that produce the miniatures.
Perry's also came from Citadel GW so that is probably where the idea came from.
Northstar are doing a range of miniatures to go with the game too.

I get that but almost all of the packs have redundant figures in them?

You know the ones that just don't fit the asthetics of the pack as a whole

its like there was a slot to fill so they rushed them

I'd rather pay more for the ones I want like Eureka does

The time, cost, and storage to sell single is massive.  I greatly appreciate that Eureka does this, but they tend to be character heavy offerings rather than bog standard unit heavy.

I did just order some figures from Brigade Games.  Most of the command packs have 2 out of 4 good character figures — but eventually you wind up with a bonus flag and drum corps of extras!

You could try asking for the figures that you are after on here.Might be the best way to get them.

Failing that get packs then sell the figures that you dont want.

No they don't - the rank-and-file packs have six infantry, or three cavalry figures with pose variations; the command packs have officers, NCOs, musicians and a standard bearer where appropriate.  Where are the redundant figures?

I think you've missed the point - they are making figures for conventional gaming, not one-offs for a niche RPG.

Sorry to upset any fanboys out there but what I mean in redundant is the wierd comical poses that seem to be a regular extra to an otherwise decent set

I see a pack, want 2-3 minis at most and then think what am I going to do with the others

If I were looking for 20-30 minis for a niche RPG I'd need to buy atleast a dozen packs which isn't going to happen

Can you give an example? I’m struggling to think of such a pose in any of the packs I’ve bought.
My LAF Gallery is HERE
Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2024 = 32
(2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)

don't particularly feel like running them down completly but for example

the 95th rifles command pack - officers and sergeant look cool but the guy at ease - whats he doing? picking out lunch?

the two with the bugle look odd too - ones running same arm and leg the other looks like he's taking a swig
