7TV Dracula
« on: October 31, 2021, 12:09:00 PM »

Crooked Dice are delighted to be working with Edge Hill University, horror writer Dacre Stoker, the descendant of Dracula author Bram Stoker, and Dr Chris McAuley of Stoker-McAuley Productions to produce 7TV: Dracula - part of the anniversary celebrations next year.

Last week I held the design brief with the interns and we have a brilliant team. They came armed with sheaves of notes that would have made Madam Mina proud, a love for the gothic and boundless enthusiasm.

It’s going to be a busy year, but can’t wait to get started! Meet you the same time next year at the Borgo Pass…

Happy Halloween!

Sounds good.   :)

Of course, I'm only interested in the miniatures.   ::)  How many?  Who is the sculptor?   :)

Hopefully this remains true to the Gothic themes and storyline as a game and does not slide into the revisionist new "Ravenloft" style.

Absolutely - we’re adapting the novel, so it would be hard not to reflect those themes!!!

I am interested to see how the big a game this is designed to handle.

7TV in general would seem to be for forces quite a bit larger than I would expect from my limited knowledge of the source material.

A good choice of sculptor.

This will be a feature pack for 7TV Fantasy, with a number of bespoke mechanics to help us best reflect gothic horror. The challenge is to adapt the novel to suit the form of a skirmish game. We can’t have a game where players just send letters to one another after all :)

So we are looking for those places (and spaces) in the novel where players can enjoy a potential conflict with appropriate forces. Some are quite obvious - others not so much - but its great fun working it out!

The interns on the development team are brilliant. They know the source material very, very well so we have made far greater progress than anticipated by this point. The five scenarios have been mapped out and first drafts of over 30 profiles have been submitted. We are taking a break from those to look at some of the new mechanics to see how they will impact on further drafting of the profiles. Shaping up very nicely!

I am very curious to see how this game might bring an atmosphere of Horror to the table. I have been unable to imagine my own rules that would do that.
