6mm IABSM Highway Seven Anzio bridgehead AAR
« on: November 28, 2021, 06:43:27 PM »
Thought it would be nice to do a game with US troops for Veterans Day (Nov 11), and since I had no US 6mm minis Jon would bring his long hibernating 6mm Americans.  So I stole another scenario off of Rob Avery's Vis Lardica site that would be a simple set up. For variety I wanted a game that was in Italy so the Highway 7 scenario from the Anzio pack looked good.
The action takes place on January 31, 1944 with units of the US 3rd Div trying to expand the Anzio beachead out through the dug in Herman Goering Pz Div.

That looks excellent! Eventually I want to get my 6mm WW2 collection to the point where I can do something similar (but with British and German forces).

How did you find using IABSM for the game?

Great battle report, terrain, and minis (well, maybe that green is a bit green).  But you did day the 3rd ID guys were green....Which begs a question - I wonder why the US 3rd ID boys were rated green.  By Jan '44, I would think that they would have accumulated some tactical wisdom by then...but maybe I'm biased.  I was in the Rock of the Marne in the mid-80s... ;)

Never played IABSM.  May have to check it out...

i really like IABSM for 6mm.  The ground scale is perfect for it and the best set of company sized rules I've played.  Gives a great feel for the empty battlefield and imposes a realistic level of friction.
Thanks,
Mark

I don't have any 6mm.  I do have loads of 15mm (US, German, British, and Soviet).  Would IABSM work for 15s?

It was originally designed for 15s. The ground scale is approx 1/240 so looks nice in 6mm

This seriously looks great... I'm so tempted to pick up some WWII in 6mm now! :)

Thanks
