Do you still do gormless things?
« on: November 24, 2021, 05:22:57 PM »
Many of us on here have several centuries of experience at building and painting our toys.
Today I superglued a part to a model and walked away. 50 years of accumulated knowledge telling me to park the model up till tomorrow. Half an hour later I undercoated it. Resulting in a good brush petrified into stone, and a great blob of paint and superglue on the model. After the blob set, as removal surgery commenced, the original part got broken off in the mayhem. The model's ruined.
I'm sat scratching mi' melon thinking...
'that was a daft thing to do'.

That wasn't the intention...
It's the sympathy vote I'm after!

Harry,

I feel for you, I really do >:(

However does getting up and going to work everyday count as well? lol

Maybe not

Still made me smile though, mostly because I’m glad it wasn’t me  ;)

Oy vey. Yes.

My sympathies and hope to see what you make of the 'ruined' figure. I used to do conversions for fun; now if I'm doing a conversion, it's because the project has gone horribly FUBAR and required major surgery.

Almost did something foolish (primed before the basing putty was totally dry) and thought of this thread. Backed away from the table and took a deep breath. It's always a result of impatience on my part.

All the time. To make it worse, it’s usually to the tune of ‘I don’t believe it!’ Strongly suspect I’m transforming into Victor Meldrew :-(

It's always a result of impatience on my part.
In my youth:-
1) I couldn't wait for the 24 hour epoxy to set on some weapon
conversions, but remembered that 'Drying time depended upon
temperature. I put them on an old plate & stuck them under my
Mother's grill... Came back later to find a whole lot of silver puddles
    glued together.  :-[
2) Needed a lot of horse teams for a Napoleonic game. The conversions
and basing took longer than expected. I couldn't leave the painting
until the morning (game day) as I only had Humbrol Gloss paints.
They can ALL be black horses I thought. Painted them then went
to bed... In the morning all was dry, including all the DARK BLUE
    horses.  :'(

Always room for doing something gormless.

I prefer someone else do it, but perfectly capable of doing it myself if no one else is available with the suitable skill level to achieve it.

You have my deepest sympathies, but more so my thanks, as that perhaps will spare me from having to do some gormless thing for a while.
