Captain Scarlet - two Galactic Heroes Games (Pic heavy)
« on: November 24, 2021, 11:25:11 PM »
A couple of weeks ago we played a GH game using my Spectrum and Mysteron minis.

Episode 1:
The Mysterons have brought down the plane of the World President, but he has survived. Spectrum forces have found him and must get him safely to an SPV, across a destroyed city.  Captain Black and his mysteronised humans must prevent this.

Escorted by Captains Scarlet & Blue with one Spectrum Secuirty.  His two colleages attempt to cover their movement.

The 3 Spectrum Security get quickly taken out

A Mysteron shoots Captain Blue

Before Scarlet returns fire

The SPV is in sight, but only Captain Scarlet remains.  He moved closer but was shot several times by Blacks men, before Captain Black got nasty and finished him off on the ground.  The President was taken, but Captain Scarlet had survived (Regeneration), waking up in bed on Cloudbase.

They smash him, but they know he'll return, To live again.

Today was the conclusion.

Episode 2:
The capture of the World President means Spectrum must act to find and retrive him.

He is secured within one of the 3 buildings in the top half of the table.  He must be located and moved off-table.  The Mysterons aim to make him pay for Earth's actions on Mars.

Lots of careful movement

Captain Blue shoots and misses

A long range firefight starts

Is that a human or a Mysteron replacement in the distance?

Captain Scarlet begins searching the warehouse

Captain Blue repeats his poor performance from episode 1. Colonel White wont be happy

The Last member of the Security team spends several turns fighting a Mysteron before Captain Black finished him off

Captain Scarlet escapes with the freed World President in the nick of time.

A couple of fun games, with a linked story.

Impressive terrain! I really like that rusty corrugated iron warehouse.

Looks like some fantastic games, and the scenery really makes the scenes.

Also; a perfect example of how clear bases can work really well, especially with gaming mats like these. In several of the more distant pictures, I was actively looking for the telltale sign of round bases to identify miniature locations. Only after a second look did I focus on actual human silhouettes and shadows.

That really adds to the atmosphere and (perceived) realism of the setup.

And I have to echo the sentiments about the corrugated metal building. Am I right in thinking it's actually a Scalescenes papercraft one?
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Thanks for the kind comments. Much appreciated.

Most of the buildings are scratch-built by me.  There are a couple of Sarissa that my mate Chris had.

I've deliberated alot over clear bases.  Just some of my 7TV collection is based this way. In some circumstances (like this) they work well. By using a mat that was completely flat, it helps the bases to "disappear"  Mine are very thin, just 0.5mm (Cut for me by James- OSHIROmodels)  On a different surface and/or different lighting they can be more obvious:

The large metal shack is all plastic card/strip on a PVC foam base. One quarter is a clad foamcore box, to give the structure some strength for the pipe connection to the roof.  The roof lifts off in 3 sections, the front one secured in place by the smokestack.  I will likely do a bit more work on the interior, but I barely had time (the evening before!) to do the weathering on it before the 7TV games.

It was built in the past couple of weeks as part of additions to my Mad Max 2 scenery for a 7TV: Apocalypse day last Sunday. When I get time I will add posts & pics in the appropriate places.

I deliberately tried to re-create a Gerry Anderson vibe with existing scenery, and was pleased how it tuned out.

With a bit more work, this and/or MM2 would work for BLAM.  8)

Great figures and scenery.
I was very tickled by the Drowning Scarlet figure.
Weren't the closing credits song and images just lovely for the kiddies?  I don't know how they got away with it.

Great painting equalled by great terrain; everything just fits together seamlessly to make a very believable world.
