A bloody skirmish between 1/72 Vikings and Anglo-Saxons
« on: December 06, 2021, 11:01:49 AM »
This is a solo skirmish using a ruleset from Two Hour Wargames. It was short, bloody and fun. Full AAR in my blog: http://javieratwar.blogspot.com/2021/12/vikings-versus-anglo-saxons.html

A teaser:

Nice to see 1/72 figures getting some love. Your figures look great, the colours just jump out, hard to believe they're not 28s.

Thanks for your kind comment. The truth is I'm rediscovering my love for 1/72 scale, where it all began, and I'm getting back my hobby's mojo again.

Great looking figures. They are very nicely painted, and look a lot more dynamic than the 1/72nd Airfix and Matchbox figures I remember from a long time ago!

Definitely, you could say 1/72 is living now its golden age with the huge variety of periods and the excellent quality from houses like Zvezda or Italeri.

Nice figures and overall effect!  :-*

1/72 plastic seems much more inspiring these days than it was some years ago.

I agree, they look great.  I'm looking to paint some 1/72 plastics myself.
What do you prime with?
May I assume you paint with acrylics?
And, what do you seal with?

Thanks!

First of all I rinse them with soap for dishes and warm water, then I prime them with Vallejo white surface primer on brush as I read on the Reaper forum that soft plastic don't do well with sprays. I use Vallejo acrylic paints and seal them with one spray coat of Vallejo satin and then another with Vallejo matt varnish.

Interesting stuff re: painting soft plastics.

I remember the days of painting my Airfix models just to have the paint peel off almost as soon as I started to play with them!  lol

I wasn't laughing at the time  :'(

Nowadays most soft plastic is not so soft and bendy. Zvezda, Italeri, Emhar and a few ones are releasing excellent and quite hard miniatures, and if you do as I said above you shouldn't have any peeling off. Cheers,

I've become a big fan of 1/72 this past year so I love seeing more working in that scale.
Great stuff!
