Footsore/Aventine early Byzantines
« on: December 08, 2021, 10:17:25 PM »
Hello folks,

I am putting together a Saga force of Footsore Late Romans/Earl Byzantines but have been distracted by the Aventine Early Byzantine figures.

Does anyone already have Late Romans/Early Byzantines from both manufacturers? If so, can I ask how do they look next to each other?

Was a bit worried the lovely Aventine figures might be much bigger and chunkier than their Footsore cousins?

Many thanks

I'll take some pictures later today.

Before I do, if you want to remain historically accurate as regarding arms and armours etc you would only get away with using the following Aventine codes as the rest are specifically approximately 100 years beyond that of a a Late Roman (Eastern and Western) army using Footsore Miniatures. The Aventine range is called Early Byzantine for a reason and I know from talking to Keith directly just how much research has gone into the range):

BYZ07 Infantry command 3
BYZ08 Infantry with shield arm down 1
BYZ09 Infantry with shield arm down 2
BYZ10 Infantry with shield held high
BYZ11 Kneeling spearmen
BYZ12 unarmoured command 1
BYZ13 Unarmoured command 2
BYZ14 Unarmoured archer in Phygrian shaped caps#
BYZ15 Unarmoured archers in Pannonian cap
BYZ16 Unarmoured archers in mixed caps
BYZ17 Archers skirmishing
BYZ18 Unarmoured spearmen in helmets 1
BYZ19 Unarmoured spearmen in helmets 2
BYZ20 Unarmoured Spearmen in Pannonian Hats
BYZ21 Unarmoured spearmen in Phygrian caps
BYZ30 slingers in helmets
BYZ31 slingers in Pannonian hats
BYZ32 slingers in Phygrian shaped caps
BYZ33 slingers bare headed

I'll get the comparison pics done today for you. :)

No probs. Currently my favourite range of miniatures. Well, all Aventine sculpts are a delight. Extremely well cast with virtually no mould lines.
