I've had a proper look now and with the frothy mist lifted here are my comments:

i) On closer inspection the pilot does appear to be hull down against the main weapon which can't be good.
ii) the legs are bloody huge, trying to work out whether or not it is meant to convert to tracked or not.
iii) It's a bloody big bugger but as pointed out, lacking in a certain germanic flavour.
iv) I really want to like it alot but I still prefer the dust kits.
v) Gear Krieg must go 28mm they will make a bloody fortune if they do, (sorry agis but it's true!).

The sample pics from the new rulebook in different camo patterns does improve the look but again she has big hips and it is a bit manga-esque.

It's not a bad piece and I'm sure we'll see some nice ones painted up but I think I'd get the dust Luther if I could find one!
Now water can flow....or water can crash...be water my friend.

Hauptgefreiter - thanks for that link! I've had my eye on the Dust Luther for months now! Not too pricey either...

As for the SOTR Tiger Mecha - I don't think the big legs are bad (just my opinion, though!). In my mind it means that the beast isn't going to be knocked over easily on the gaming table, which is always a concern of mine because I'm a bit of a klutz when the gaming action gets going. I think you're all right about the gun, though - it would be perilously close to the family jewels, and the recoil could spell disaster.

More to the point, there's this new posting to the Quarter Kit site for a new 1/48th scale "MekaTank" range that look very similar to the Dust models. The site says coming in 2010:

That's a great idea, use the same walker chassis and just add a German tank turret to it.  Keeps the Germans feel and was actually a common practice during the war with adding AC turrets to 1/2 tracks and even sticking Pz IV and II turrets on other tank marks.

I will be sure to mark this and wait to see some REAL pics of them.

Great find,
Brian

Yes GK would sell some minis in 1/56... (they would not make a fortune, but it could carry itself)

The rules I have done are of course usable for 28mm minis, but to have a dedicated  model line of official GK minis in 28mm is something else.

In fact I have already negotiated the thing with DP9, the license to do 28mm GK modles is affordable, I really thought about it, but in the end it is just not "doable" for me. I would not shy the initial investment, but doing the casting, shipped etc, is too much if you also have a demanding real life job.
But if anybody else wants to do it...
cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - http://www.adpublishing.de
