Gluing Dark Alliance Cavalry
« on: December 18, 2021, 06:30:23 PM »
I’m not having any luck gluing my 1/72 Dark Alliance Warriors of the Dead riders to their mounts. Neither super glue nor the hobby zap-a-gap are working?

Any suggestions?

I asked a similar question about a month nth ago about glue for soft plastic figures. Folks recommended a type of 2-part plastic glue (not 2-part epoxy) formulated specifically for plastics. I haven’t picked any up yet, however.

One thing that may help, no matter which plastic you use, is pinning the riders to their mounts. Paper clips are a good material for that job, as are actual pins.

Something else you might try is to rough up the surfaces you're gluing there. I've had a few issues with some plastics where the surfaces were slicker and didn't want to glue, hit it with a bit of sandpaper to rough it up a tiny bit and the glue worked rather well.

Another thing would be to try a second run through washing the mini, cleaning it off of anything on the surface. A bit of a soak in some iso and a rinse is a good second if you used soap and water the first time.

Another thing that can work is to get some of the plastic primers for exterior plastics and try priming before gluing there. A lot of the time that tends to do well for a lot of plastics and that primer doesn't want to come off without a LOT of effort.
